Wifi-hotspot setup on Windows 8.1/7 PC

Problem Description

I read somewhere on the internet that one can create a Wifi-hotspot on a Windows PC, if one’s network card supports broadcasting the wifi internet connection. I was having trouble getting this  to work with my iPhone. The same was true for even other devices. These devices were connecting to the hotspot, however the internet was not working.

Problem Source

The problem was that one needed to specify a static IP address and a custom DNS server address.
